Maldon Folk Festival

Maldon is a charming little town in Central Victoria, famous for its colonial styling and main street shopping area, where each footpath is edged with stone. The stores in Maldon have been lovingly maintained in heritage colours and retain their original, late 1800's, style. Many of the local homes are the cottage type, with picket fences, honeysuckle crawling over the verandahs, pretty apple trees and an abundance of roses.

Each October however, this usually sleepy township comes absolutely

Sunday Lunch: Wombat Hill House, Daylesford

1st Oct 2011 by Sue Wallace, Sydney Morning Herald
DAFFODILS are bobbing in the breeze as we follow a winding path through Daylesford's Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens, which are flush with spring.

We are on our way to the new Wombat Hill House — a garden, cafe and store, opened recently by Alla Wolf-Tasker of Lake House.

Step inside what was once a derelict caretaker's cottage from the 1940s and it doesn't take long to see the Wolf-Tasker stamp all over it.

There's a cosy fireplace a

Accommodation

Making your choice for accommodation in Daylesford can often be difficult. This is because of the staggering range of offerings, and the often limited availability.

For, although there are many accommodation providers, the majority are small, one or two bedroom properties. Coupled with this is the popularity of the area for weddings and short breaks, being so close to Melbourne and the number of events such as the Italian Festival or the Chill Out weekend.

So at times the choice is lim

Daylesford The Queen of Victorian Holiday Towns

By Steve `Grumpy' Collins, on October 6th, 2011 in Grumpy's Getaway Guide
